Local Treats

While in New Orleans, I decided to try out some local treats. One was this Hubig's pie. I was intrigued because the second ingredient in the crust was Lard (beef), which I am pretty sure is not an ingredient in the Hostess version.
Indeed the crust had a slightly beefy taste. Overall, the crust was the best part. It was nice and crumbly with a slight, sweet glaze. The filling (lemon) was a bit of a disappointment. I wanted it to have a nice tang of lemon, but instead it was actually rather bland. I think I should have purchased the peach pie.
